It looks like we’ll have to wait even longer for GTA 6

It looks like we’ll have to wait even longer for GTA 6, which is now scheduled for release in November 2026.

The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 just got even longer. Rockstar Games recently confirmed the game won’t release until 19 November 2026, which is almost a full year later than many fans were hoping. If this sounds like deja vu, that’s because it is. The game was already delayed once, pushed from an initial autumn 2025 release window to May 2026.

In a statement shared on 6 November, Rockstar explained they needed more time to give the game the polish players “expect and deserve.” While that might sound like the usual corporate line, it’s pretty clear the pressure on Rockstar is enormous. After all, GTA 5 is one of the best-selling games of all time, so the bar for the sequel is unbelievably high.

Rockstar apologised for the extended wait and thanked fans for their patience. They also expressed their excitement about what is coming, inviting players to explore Leonida, a fictional U.S. state inspired by Florida, and a new interpretation of Vice City that captures Miami’s distinctive atmosphere.. The latest trailer painted a vivid picture filled with neon lights, dramatic skyscrapers, and a bit of social media satire that rings oddly true.

However, this big announcement came amid some troubling news. Reports surfaced that over 30 people were laid off from Rockstar’s UK studios in late October. The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain alleges these layoffs were tied to efforts to prevent unionization, sparking protests outside Rockstar’s offices in Edinburgh and London. Rockstar hasn’t commented on the situation.

Fans might be frustrated by the delay, but it also feels like Rockstar is trying to avoid releasing something half-baked. In today’s gaming world, rushing unfinished games can backfire badly. Still, it’s hard not to see GTA 6 as this mythical creature everyone talks about but few have actually experienced yet.

With only two trailers and no gameplay shown so far, speculation is running wild. Some think Rockstar’s silence is building hype, while others wonder if it’s a sign the company is facing bigger issues beneath the surface. Either way, November 2026 feels both distant and impossibly close for those who’ve been waiting since GTA 5 first launched on consoles long ago.

This delay might stretch patience thin, but it also might mean the game they finally get will be worth it. At least, that’s the hope.
